As part of the nura community, you and your privacy are of high importance to us. Making the world's first headphones that automatically know how you hear is no easy feat. To achieve our vision of providing perfect sound for every person in any place, nura Products collect and analyse your hearing data to create your personalised hearing profile. This calibration process involves collecting a biometric signal from your ear, called an Otoacoustic Emission (OAE). To make the calibration as accurate as possible and to provide you with insights into your hearing, nura also collects information about you.
We also know that an amazing experience isn’t just about having a revolutionary product - it’s also about getting help when you need and making sure the process of ordering, receiving and using your nuraphones is as easy as possible.
what data does nura collect?
when you buy a product from the nura website
When you purchase a Product from the nura Sites, we collect transaction information, such as information about the Products you purchase, shipping and delivery information and information related to returns, refunds and cancellations. All payment data is handled solely by our third-party payment processors: ShopifyPayments, Stripe and in some cases, PayPal.
when you create a nura account
You will need a nura account to access the nura App and be able to calibrate your nura Product to your hearing. When you create your nura account, you’ll be prompted to enter personal information, including your name, email address, password, date of birth, and any other information you provide.
You will also have the option to create your nura account using your credentials from certain social media accounts, such as your Facebook or Google+ accounts. If you choose to do so, we will ask permission to access basic information from that account, like your name, profile picture, and friend list. You can stop sharing that information with us at any time by removing nura’s access to that account.
when you calibrate a nura product
You will need to download the App on a mobile device, before you can calibrate a nura Product. Standard data rates may apply. This process will require you to provide information such as your date of birth, gender and location. This information is used to learn more about your hearing, and to help us provide non-identified data statistics to you and other users.
Calibration of nura Products involves collecting signals from your ear, called Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE). This is done using a tiny microphone within the nuraphone. This tiny microphone will only store two pieces of information:
- The OAE data of anyone who uses a nura product to create a hearing profile
- Sound for calibration reaction videos*
Upon calibration, nura Products will collect and analyse your hearing data to provide you with a personalised sound experience. This data will be stored locally on the Product so that you can experience personalised sound day to day, without using the App. This hearing data is also sent to nura and used to learn more about your hearing, and to help us provide non-identified, aggregate data statistics to you and other users.
*During the calibration process, the nura App will ask for permission from the microphone of your nuraphones and front facing camera on your device, to capture a reaction video of you using your nuraphones for the first time. This reaction video is only collected for your use in reliving your calibration experience and sharing this experience with your friends. For more details, please see "Your Choices" below.
when you sync your nura product
Whenever your Product is connected to your device, and your device has a network connection, usage data is transferred from your nura Products to our servers. Standard log data is also collected whenever a sync occurs, such as the time, date and IP address when the Product was synced.
when you use our products
When you use our Products, we may keep track of your listening activity, which may include details on the types of content to which you listen, as well as your listening habits. We may collect this information, for example, to correlate the content with your hearing profiles.
when you refer your friends
Great music should be shared with great friends! This is why nura lets you invite friends to receive a discount off their very own nura Products, while rewarding you too. When you invite your friends, you’ll be asked to provide details such as their name and email address. By providing such information, you represent that you have their permission to share their information with nura.
